Corrections Policy

SmartLiveReport aims to correct material inaccuracies promptly and transparently. This policy explains how readers may report errors and how published content may be corrected, clarified, updated, or removed.

Reporting an issue

For an issue relating to a particular report, use the Page Review / Compliance Issue option on that article page. This enables SmartLiveReport to identify the relevant publication and maintain the complaint within its review workflow.

A useful report should identify the exact statement or material in question, explain why it is believed to be inaccurate or improper, and include reliable supporting information where available.

Review process

SmartLiveReport may review the published page, available source material, publication history, relevant records, and any response supplied by an affected person or organisation. Additional clarification or evidence may be requested from the complainant.

Corrections

A correction may be made when a factual statement, name, date, figure, quotation, attribution, caption, headline, image description, or other material element is confirmed to be wrong.

The form and prominence of a correction should reflect the significance of the original error. Minor typographical or formatting mistakes that do not alter meaning may be corrected without a separate correction notice.

Clarifications

A clarification may be added when the original statement was not necessarily false but was incomplete, ambiguous, or reasonably capable of creating a materially misleading impression.

Updates

Developing reports may be updated as new information becomes available. An update is not necessarily a correction. Where practical, a significant update may be identified by an updated publication timestamp or an explanatory note.

Retractions and removal

Full removal or retraction may be considered when a report is fundamentally unreliable, unlawfully published, seriously harmful, based on fabricated material, or incapable of being adequately corrected through an amendment. Removal decisions may also consider legal obligations, safety, privacy, preservation of the public record, and the public interest.

Archived and syndicated material

SmartLiveReport will take reasonable steps to apply a confirmed correction to versions under its control. Search-engine caches, third-party copies, social posts, or syndicated versions may not update immediately and may not be within SmartLiveReport's control.

No guarantee of requested outcome

Submission of a complaint does not automatically require deletion or a change in the form requested. SmartLiveReport will determine the appropriate action after considering the evidence, editorial standards, applicable rights, and legal obligations.

Formal Escalations & Compliance

For formal compliance issues, legal escalations, or statutory complaints falling under India's Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, please refer directly to our dedicated Grievance Redressal Page to lodge a formal complaint with our designated Grievance Officer.
